SAT Reasoning Test™
Every question in the mathematics sections of the SAT Reasoning Test can be solved without a calculator. However, we suggest that you bring and use a calculator, especially one with which you are familiar. We recommend the use of a scientific or graphing calculator. You may not use a calculator during the critical reading or writing sections and must put it away during these portions of the test.
SAT Subject Tests™
Some questions on these tests cannot be solved without a scientific or graphing calculator. We recommend the use of a graphing calculator over a scientific calculator. Calculators may only be used on the Mathematics Level 1 and Level 2 Subject Tests. You may not use a calculator for other Subject Tests and must put it away when not taking a mathematics test.
SAT Reasoning Test 의 모든 문제들은 계산기 없이도 풀이가 가능한 문제들이지만, 계산기를 사용해도 상관없다. 일반 계산기 보다는 손에 익은 공학용 계산기 혹은 그래핑 공학용 계산기를 가져올 것을 추천하며 Mathematics 섹션 이외의 시험에서는 계산기 사용이 불가능하다.
SAT Subject Tests에서는 Mathematics Level 1과 Level 2 에서 계산기 사용이 가능하며 그 외 과목에서는 계산기 사용이 불가능하다. Level 1과 Level 2 의 경우 계산기 없이 풀이가 가능한 문제들도 있고, 계산기가 없으면 풀이가 불가능한 문제들도 출제된다. 따라서 어떤 문제에서 계산기 사용이 필요한지 알아내는 것이 중요하다. 공학용 계산기 보다는 그래핑 공학용 계산기를 지참하는 것을 추천한다.
모든 경우에 있어서 계산기를 다른 수험생과 공유하는 것은 금지되어 있으며, 발견되면 시험 자체가 취소된다. 또한 다음과 같은 특수한 계산기는 사용이 불가능하다.
노트북 등 휴대용 컴퓨터, 스타일러스 펜을 사용하는 PDA형 계산기, 휴대폰 계산기, QWERTY (typewriter-like) keypad (컴퓨터 키보드 자판같은)을 갖고 있는 계산기
